There are so many ways to go with them and every time I see a lantern used in centerpieces or other reception decorations, I just love them!
I’ve already put together a white and green inspiration board to bring with us when we meet with the florist in a couple weeks. I also wanted to put together one with more colorful flowers. The florist we are meeting with specializes in couples who don’t already have a set idea of what they want (which is good since it describes me and my fiance!) so I want to make sure I have a variety of examples of what types of floral arrangement I like so we can work together to come up with something we love.
We selected our venue on the first site visit we did last month — the Briar Patch B&B in Middleburg, VA. As we walked around the site we were both quiet, taking it all in. But as we continued to walk around we slowly starting to let our opinions be known and it was clear we were thinking that same thing — this place is perfect! There are a few options for the ceremony site — we are likely going with the grassy area under a large tree — space for an outdoor cocktail hour with room for games (bocce, croquet, etc.), and a large reception hall with big windows, 2 patios to the side and 2 smaller rooms for extra room for the cocktail hour and/or reception, guest rooms so our wedding party will be able to stay there with us on Friday and Saturday nights. And to top it all off, the people were so nice and no-pressure.
Yesterday I set a consultation appointment with a florist so I am starting to gather floral inspiration to share with her. Although our wedding will be in early October, I don’t want the red-orange-yellow flower color palette. I’m thinking more along the lines of dusty greens, whites and perhaps a pop of yellow.
Since our ceremony will be outdoors I would like to bring some natural green accents into the decor along with blues
Inspired by the color cards at www.inspiredbride.net I tried my hand at creating some of my own. I really like blues and greens and our wedding is October 2, 2010, so don’t want to go “springy” with the colors.
I really like this palette, but no green in it (can be easily added)

I don’t think this one flows as well, but I like the added green:
