Hi everyone! Sorry I haven’t been very active with my boards and posts. We are rolling into the 4 month wedding countdown and time is flying. Finalizing vendors and details is draining (I’ve officially developed an eye twitch), especially communicating what’s in my head in my fluent yet imperfect Italian (I’m American, fiancè Italian, we live in Italy, wedding is in Italy). I also have to do the Italian pre-marital course at church, Italian confession (I don’t even know how to say “Forgive me Father for I have sinned” in Italian, not to mention that I haven’t confessed since Confirmation - whoops!), Italian paperwork at City Hall (an abyss), figure out how to legalize the marriage in the US, and figuring out how to make a bilingual Catholic ceremony as short as possible (impossible?). Last on this abridged list is finding someone who makes a decent American wedding cake (I want a dense frosty cake at my wedding dammnit!) Don’t even ask me if cupcakes are an option. And no, I will not DIY cupcakes.

Anyway, besides all the other stuff, I’ve been looking for bridesmaids gifts. I know that a lot of people gift the accessories to be worn for the wedding, so when I found this jewelery from J.Crew I knew it was perfect! The price is right ($65 - $150) and they will definitely be worn again. I’ll probably pair it with monogrammed jewelery pouches.

The dress is by Two Birds and all the girls look gorgeous in it. I think jazzing it up with a little glamorous gold and glitz fits the look we’re going for…Romantic Glam. And that cake? Frosty perfection!

It’s big fat doozie of a book, an epic family drama set in east Texas. The story surrounds the legacy of three families, a cursed cotton plantation and a love that would not be. Being a Yankee myself, I am now obsessed with all the southern culture and history that makes the story sing, so I wanted to do a board reflecting that sweet tea-inflected charm. Doily lace tablecloths, cotton boll bouquets, white monogrammed napkins and buttery biscuits. A formal, old-fashioned feel with typically less-formal details for a soft, clean, nostalgic atmosphere. Get thee to a bookstore! You won’t be sorry…

So sorry I haven’t posted in a while…I was visiting my family for the holidays and it was a whirlwind of Xmas shopping and wedding shenanigans like my first fitting, bridesmaid dress choosing and invitation ordering!

So this board probably needs an explanation. I’m thinking about how to mix things up for my wedding and using my dress and bridesmaids as obvious influences. I didn’t really have a set color scheme, although I did a want a beigey pink for the maids and soft pinks, taupes and whites. My dress is the one-shouldered style by Romona Keveza (it’s really white) and we switched up the belt with a Swarovski encrusted one that I can’t find a picture of but is similar to the one shown below. I have a head piece, diamond studs and a chapel length veil for the ceremony, but I’m changing into a feathered-flower-sparkly side clip and chandelier earrings for the grand entrance and party time. Shoes are Manolo but we decided on silver instead of white because it looks good with my jeweled belt and I could wear them again (my mother works at Neiman Marcus. Yes I am very lucky.)

We chose the Two Birds full length dress in Rosewater, not only is it super chic but it’s also amazing for travel and cool for Mediterranean temperatures.

I thought the fuchsia could be a fun pop of color for the cocktail hour/ dessert & dancing area. The floating blooms are pretty for the cocktail tables and a few stems in pretty bottles are great for dressing up the bar without being over the top.

The dining room centerpieces need a whole other board..but suggestions are welcome! I was planning on beige linens, gold-rimmed china and white flowers (was thinking hydrangeas but now with these bouquets I’m a bit lost)…maybe at every place I could put a fuchsia flower to tie it all together? I might have to play around with this one again!

I see a wedding in your future…pass on the good fortune to everyone else with a fortune-telling wedding. Menu cootie catchers, pretty paper fortune cookies and of course, tarot card, palm and tea leaf readers. Leave the kitsch behind and go with a romantic dusky palette - faded pinks, blues and spices. You could even do tarot themed vows as described here. It’s a bit new agey, but just remember that something (fate?) brought you together!

PS I should be on a plane right now heading home (bad weather conditions and packed holiday flights) and instead I’m here making a board about GOOD FORTUNE….??? Everyone please pray that all goes well tommorrow @ the airport for me!

It’s all very hip and natural, a bit downtown vintage lounge, drinking whiskey and munching on comfort food like mini grilled cheese and tomato soup. It’s formal without glitz, vintage sans kitsch and pretty chic if you ask me. After all of the gorgeous vintage and rustic photoshoots, I would love to see some modern city styling.

Despite the brightness of the holidays, I’ve been having a love affair with black. I feel an almost desperate need to paint all my walls black…matte black, that awesome chalkboard black that’s everywhere right now. Everything really pops against it and creates depth and mystery, which is romantic. I don’t know if I would go this extreme for a wedding, although I think if someone did, I would love it and think they were the coolest couple ever. Okay, yes, you risk “funeral or “Halloween” but I think when you mix black with gold and warm neutrals, everything softens and it all comes out super chic.
