inspiration challenge #4: FALL-ing in love
Here’s another shot at the challenge. Fall colors are gorgeous, so why not take advantage of that? Exploit autumn for all it’s worth!

I am taking Tonia’s advice and re-entering this board for the next challenge. It’s just so pretty and whimsical and romantic and would make a gorgeous wedding. There are so many little details you could do, like mini telescopes as favors, hot chocolate with marshmallow “stars”, constellations instead of table numbers…the ideas are as infinite as the universe!
“Denim has been in American usage since the late eighteenth century. The word comes from the name of a sturdy fabric called serge, originally made in Nimes, France, by the Andre family. Originally called serge de Nimes, the name was soon shortened to denim. Denim was traditionally colored blue with indigo dye to make blue ‘jeans’ though ‘jean’ then denoted a different, lighter cotton textile; the contemporary use of jean comes from the French word for Genoa, Italy (Gênes), where the first denim trousers were made.”
Why not build a wedding around denim? We all live in our jeans and it’s actually quite elegant paired with golds (taken from the traditional seam color) and softened by mixing various blues, from pure indigo to faded grey. There’s nothing that says comfort like denim.
What a fun thing to do - translate your home decor into a wedding design! You can’t get more personal than that. Following my last board, I tried to somwhat duplicate my bedroom ideas into this…super cute!
Interior design is as much a part of our lives as weddings, considering either after or during the wedding planning we are also building our love nests (or at least the process is a constant).
I’ve been having trouble figuring out our bedroom, so this is what I’ve come up with. Our bed is exactly that (white baroque frame upholstered in white patent leather), the curtains were an impulse buy at Ikea that I’m not too sure about but would like to work around. Everything else is fantasy…but I really enjoy the black + white + gray + orange + purple color scheme. Last year we completely renovated everything, and stuck with a white and gray base, so we’ve been adding lots of pops of color everywhere to keep things fresh.
Now all I have to do is find/make all this stuff and I’m good to go! Oh and I think I’ll be doing a wedding board based on these scheme shortly…
I love these colors together. Beige really adds warmth and elegance to any color and makes it pop while toning it down at the same time. It could work for any season with a few tweaks on the details or adding a third color to the scheme. It just makes me smile on this dark rainy sunday…
Ok, who doesn’t love Gossip Girl? The life, the clothes, the headbands! I propose giving each of your bridesmaids a different headband matching their personality, crazy colored tights and oh-so-chic flats. And who needs dinner when you’ve got Moet and Laduree??
A celestial theme would be so pretty. I would give mini telescopes as favors, hang twinkle lights everywhere and thank the heavens for sending me the one!
So, I was thinking about doing a Sicilian board, but then these images came up, and I figured, what the heck, lets go the stereotype route and do it Godfather-style. I really like this board, though. It’s moody and intimate. Exactly how I imagine a wedding at home with Il Padrino; family-style, unbuttoned and relaxed, but formal and traditional as well. Love the artichoke green as a compliment to whites and sepias!
This is an ode to little orphan Annie, all grown up and throwing a fabulous wedding, sponsored by Daddy Warbucks. Red patent maryjanes? Check. Daddy’s Roles? Check. Sandy the dog? As ring bearer, of course. Instead of a boys choir at the ceremony, why not a girls choir? Dancing to classic show tunes all night long is sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces, and even though you’ll be dressed to the nines…it’s what you wear from ear to ear and not from head to toe that matters….
